Parcel - Delivery Tracking App Reviews

I use it all the time

I’ve used this app on both iOS and OSX for a long time now. It works well and I don’t recall ever having any issues. The only thing I would change is adding the ability to mark entries as “complete” and have them archived instead of having to delete them. It is a fantastic app and I would recommend it to anyone.

Great idea if for Notification Center only, though there are some issues

First, the app is stable and seems to work for me bug free. On the plus sides: - There is an iOS app, Desktop app, and Notification Center Widget that sync with their own cloud system as long as you set up an email and password - They go as far as sugesting you use a fake made up email address, which tells me they are not storing data now do they care about it. Though if you fake the email, forgot password will fail forever. - The free version allows entry of 3 items before you hae to remove older entries if you want to keep using it for free. - There are plenty of preferences for setting alerts, notifications, menu icons, etc. There are some small issues… - You can only enter in three tracking numbers, after that, you hve to go to the Desktop app and delete at least one to track one more package, or buy the app. - Notification Center is where I want to use this app the most, but it is very sparse on details and options. - If you dont enter in the carrier, it always seems to default to Australia Air or something similar, which tgen gives you strange tracking results. - I can enter in any tracking number right into google and it is able to determine who the shipping carrier is by the format of the tracking number. - Rather than having a select meny in an alrady crowded Notification Center, why not remove the select menu and develop it to automaticaly know who the shipping carrier is based on the tracking number format? - On the widget, there is a section to enter in a "Description", which is a single line input text field. Allowing returns would be nice, even if you only saw one line at a time. Personally, I would just make it a text area style entry form. Or, if it is designed to be short and sweet, then limit it to 256 characters, and make note of that above the field. - A text only export of the delivery data would be extremely handy. I can trust the app to store my data, however, only three at a time unless I want to pay for the app, which I wont use enough to justify payment. I would love to see minimum free entries bumped up to 10 total or something like 3 per day with 10 max per week or similar. If I could rely on keeping the data in the app on their cloud backup, i would not need a text based export, as I could trust I can always get back to my data. However, when someone says the item never showed up, was damaged in shipping, was not as described, or any nuber of the usual e-Bay nonsense, I need a history of my shipping records that goes back further than three shipping entries. As a result, I am currently screen-shotting the app as well as the "Track this entry on the carriers website" option also gets a screen-shot and filed away wtih the rest of the records and data for that particular clients order. - Not a fan of the pinkish color, it would be nice to be able to set a theme color in preferences in HEX or something like that. - The widget in Notification Center could be cleaned up a bit. In Notification Center, a general rule, the less vertical space your widget uses, the more user and UI friendly it will be. Look at the stocks app with the "show less" and "show more" options. I dont think that is an ideal method, but there are others that this app could experiment with. - The widgete does appear to attempt to parse the tracking number and then force the carrier selection menu to the correct carrier, though I rarely if ever have seen it work. Get it to work and that is an entire field that can be removed, and a ton of vertical space gained, which could even be used to add more room for a longer description, though I would rather see that be a pop out form or something that still only uses up one vertica fields space. - Addng in some small icons, so I dont have to add yet antoher icon to my already overloaded menu bar woukd be great. One could be "open app", another could be "track on carrier website", another could be a checkbox to "Auto fill description from shipping cariers website and enter into our system/Drsktop app. No need to show it in Notificattion Center though, but certainly show it in the Desktop app and on iOS where there is much more screen room when you are in an app than when you are in the small Notification Center." - It is onlu $1.99 for a year, but witout being able to use, test, sample, and see what that $1.99 does for me, the price could be one cent or one thousand dollars, and I still would not buy it as I dont know what I am buying, what I am getting into, what changes, is a bunch of junk installed in my system to make it seem like buying adds more features? - Perhaps with this app, it may be beset to simply make it always free, you are never going to get rich off of $1.99, not enough small scale shipping goes on along with not enough people even using Notifcation Center let alone knowing you can add widgets to it. Instead, show ads. People who do use the app, even if they dont ship often, when they are shipping, you will check Notification Center many times a day. On deliery day, you will check more, if the shipment is coming to yourself, you may check even more. You will also pop open the app and poke around in there as well. Pleny of places that ads can be shown. And I am sure USPS, UPS, FedEx and other shipping carriers would not mind having thier logo shown every now and then. They are more than likely willing to pay for something like that even. :) Thats about all I can say about such a minimal little tool for tracking shipping. It is handy, free to test out, simple to remove if you don;t want to use it or are not going to ship for a while and want the real estate back in Notification Center. Anyone who ships at least 3 packages a month would benefit from using this app. It is relatively new to the app store in the widget section. There are only a small handful of widgets, but they are becoming valuable utilities to the Mac and iOS

Fantastic!!!

this is a great little app if you receive a lot of packages. get loads of packages from around the world with various companies and this lets me keep track of everything in 1 screen. strongly recommended if you want to keep yourself organised and keep track of packages.

Love this app!

Awesome interface, easy to use. I just really wish that premium could be either an in app purchase, or another app on the store that cost about $5, but lasts indefinetly. I am not going to let this affect my review, because is doesn’t have to do with how it functions. I also love how this is multi-platform on iOS and Mac! Thanks for the amazing app!

Very useful and one of my must have apps!!!

I rarely take time to review apps but I LOVE THIS APP! It makes tracking easy. It always works. Customer support is almost instant. Saves me time and I never have enough time. Convenient and reliable. I was not happy to pay the subscription…at first. After using the app for awhile I think it is worth every penny. THANK YOU PARCEL!

Simple, yet completely effective!

This is the most handy app i’ve came across from the App Store. Very simple layout, no clutter, easy to add a delivery and it automatically knows the difference between shippers UPS, FedEx, USPS, etc. Excellent job!

Push notifications, iPhone, OS X and Web support

The application is great, easily track packages and it all sync’s between my mac, iphone and their web portal.

Perfect

Perfect for what I use it for.

Use This Everyday

Super convenient tracking of packages. $1.99 Premium Subscription totally worth it.

Simple, Works, Nice UI, Good OSX App behavior

With the advent of crazy (and sometimes silly) UI experiments and the lack of Apple clear message regarding the HIG (hello, OS X Lion?), and with all this minimalistic approach to most UIs (iOS, hello?) where you can’t really tell what a button is from a label… I found Parcel a very nicely designed app. Yes, the UI is rather simple and doesn’t contain anything fancy beyond what’s needed, but it’s very funcional. I only need to track 1-2 packages every now and then, so I don’t need the subscription, yet I am tempted to buy it if anything, to support the Author. Let’s be realistic, you looked for this (type of) app because it’s a pain to go through all the Emails, Links, Websites to track stuff (and keep refreshing them); your lazyness (as well as mine) found the perfect solution. Copy the tracking number, open the app, press command + N to add a new parcel and the app reads the clipboard and creates it for you, type a description (if you want), press enter and you’re set. Can’t get much easier than that. I have UPS/Fedex/USPS mobile notifications (meaning I get an SMS when the status changes for stuff that is identified for me and my address) so I don’t really use the Menu Bar icon nor the built-in notifications, but I still rely on this tiny app to see a unified UI for all my deliveries. I can imagine if you handle parcels for a living or as an integral part of your business, you would greatly benefit from this app and it’s super cheap yearly membership. Put it this way, if instead of FREE, this app costed 9.99, you’d be paying for the cost of FIVE years of this service, so why not rather subscribe and just pay 1.99 every year. It’s just two dollars, a year. You can probably collect enough coins walking down the street to pay for this, you have one year, so get going. Any Cons? Minor things, but I’d like to be able to scroll up/down with the arrow keys (like Mail) or J and K (like vi), since it’s a UISplitView with a Master/Detail type of thing, it would make sense. Maybe double clicking a delivery should open on website (but there’s a shortcut, cmd+shift+T). The problem is that I can’t select other parcels by using the keyboard, so my hand already moved to the mouse, now I have to go back to the keyboard to use the shortcut (or use the menu…). All minor details that may make usage even easier. Integrated seach while typing would be a nice addition as well. You start typing and the list only shows matching results. (dreaming here!) Anyway, why are you reading this, just get it and try it. ;)

Simple and consistent across platforms

Same glowing review as the last version! :) Its SO nice to be able to get the same data through the same style interface on my ipad as well. Also, thank you for keeping this simple. The PDF save/export of tracking history is a particularly handy feature for maintaining a paper trail for events/transactions. If youre a heavy online orderer or have a small business this is app is a real time saver and is money very well spent. I dont know what could be changed to make this app better. The developer continues to add features here and there that I wouldnt have thought of but are great!

Excellent

I use this app daily to tack all my shipments and it simply does everything I need. Very quick and easy to use. Best couple of bucks I’ve spent on an app in months.

What do you see in this?

This is one of the least useful apps. There must be something I’m missing. Most reviews sounded like regurgitations of the rants and raves from the creators, or at least the advertising agency that the creators paid to write. Useless, as you can only track up to 3 as a free member and cannot get any push notifications. Slice is much better and it is completely free.

Does What It Says!

I have been using this app on my iPhone for a couple years. Not long ago I found it in the Mac App Store and decided to try it. It works great and syncs up just fine with my phone. What is really nice is that I don’t have to use every carriers individual app. This one take care of all tracking no matter what service is delivering. I highly recommend this app if you need to track shipments from various carriers and on multiple devices.

Awesome app for tracking

This is really an awesome tracking app. It saved me tremendous amount of time in tracking my shipments spawning across multiple sites and multiple shipment carriers. Highly recommend this !

Great UI, Minimalistic and Elegant! And it works; almost all the time!

This is an awesome app! it does what it supposed to do really well. I don’t buy to many Apps but I am glad I purchsed this one. I would give it 5 stars no problems but from a few weeks ago it has been having issues automatically recognising the right carrier so when you submit a new tracking number it would pick USPS when it’s should have picked FEDEX and as a result it will show "no delivery information error.” You can manually change this so it’s not much of a problem.

Needs to support Amazon

This is a well-designed app, but doesn’t it currently support Amazon delivery. As an Amazon Prime user, I really need that feature. Works great with USPS, UPS, etc.

Great app for package tracking!

I love the auto-add feature through email forwarding—a real time-saver. It has all the essentials for package tracking: push notifications to my phone, email notifications, and web access wherever you are.

The best parcel delivery app

This app is great and is the only parcel delivery app that I use. I was happy when I could transfer my tracking from my email. If you don’t use this app to track your deliveries you do not know what you are missing. THIS APP IS AWESOME!!! This is why i gave it 5 stars.

I wish I’d found it sooner

I get LOTS of packages, and some of them come from overseas. I also live in an apartment complex where the mail isn’t delivered to the door and UPS saves time by dropping stuff off at the admin office. Sometimes, the stuff I order is date-sensitive, and Parcel is the ONLY way I have of knowing when something has arrived. More important, the office has been known to misplace packages, or the postman forgets to put an alert in the box. With Parcel, I know when to ask for a search and rescue—no more lost merchandise!
